We’ve got a lot in store for you guys as we grow ArenaCast.net beyond the home of our podcast. One new feature that we are really excited about is our new macro section that will be released in the coming weeks. While this idea isn’t exactly new, some of the other resources out there have become pretty bogged down with macros that no longer work in WoTLK and aren’t exactly relevant to Arena.

It is our goal to create a database of macros, extremely relevant to today’s arena participant, so if you’ve rerolled to a new class or you’re just looking to improve your game you won’t have to wade through a bunch of useless, outdated information to get what you’re looking for. Not only that, but we’re going to be populating our macro list with the help of some of the top names in arena, as well as providing complete lists of pro players macros for those of you who are really in details.

And if you thought we were done, our own resident AddOn expert, Kollektiv, will be turning the database into an AddOn so you can access all the macros in game. Think what Lightheaded does for WoWHead. It’s something we feel is going to be really cool, so keep your eyes open in the coming weeks.

As always, we’re looking to get our community involved as much as possible in our project. Want to have some of your macros included in the ArenaCast Macro Project? E-mail macros@arenacast.net with a list of your macro(s) a short description of what each one does, and a link to your armory page (so if we decide to use your macro we can credit you).

Hi, Kollektiv here. I’m going to be creating mods designed specifically towards arena which will only be available here. If you use some of my current mods they will be moved off Curse and WoWInterface in the near future to here. Got a feature request or suggestion? Post a comment!

There have been a lot of requests for a mod that hides totems/pet nameplates and show casting bars on every nameplate in arena. Subsequently mod makers have said it’s impossible. Well it turns out to be possible and I will now be releasing it as a mod called Overhead. Currently it has two simple features

Hides non-player nameplates in arena (totems, pets, mirror images, etc) and Note: The nameplates aren’t actually hidden, just the art is so you’ll still see them shuffle around if they’re clustered

Displays castbars on all enemy nameplates regardless of target selection.

It’s highly recommended to uninstall other nameplate mods (ie Aloft). Find the link at the bottom of this post. Special thanks to Kassay for the idea.

Only works in arenas!

Enjoy!

Man what a gay title. I sound like I should be taking it up the ass or something eh? Oh god and I’m saying Canadian phrases! I gotta put an end to this intro quick.

Last week was probably one of the busiest that I’ve had in a long time. Besides having ~9 different paper and articles to write for various websites and school, I had to work on an art project that proves that I am the least artistic (seen here, dont laugh!)

But enough about my life right? You don’t come here to read about that shit. You come here to read about WoW Arena. I guess I should explain the title first and foremost. “A New Beginning” represents some of the changes that are occurring on this space. We’ve got so many projects going on at the moment. Some I can talk about. Some I can’t.

Igoaf’s video production thingy. Yeah, we haven’t figured out a title yet. Still working on that. But these should become a regular feature once he starts rolling them out weekly. We’re looking to get one out every Friday / Saturday, but sometimes unforeseen problems occur (as always) and this might not happen. Hopefully Igoaf can release it before the show on Wednesday.

Redesign in the works for the website. Yeah, see this shit-hole you’re reading the site on? It’ll be gone in a months time (hopefully). I can’t really talk about all the things we plan to implement (mostly because I haven’t started on the design document yet hah).

Kollektiv’s PvP UI will be featured, hosted, and discussed on this space in the future. He hasn’t really started yet, but look for something Thursday-ish from him.

Always trying to improve ArenaCast, the podcast. I think our shows the past 3 weeks have been really good. What do you guys think?

I can’t talk about the other stuff at the moment, but its definitely going to be something all of our fans enjoy.

Another thing I want to talk about is Fix’s post from last week. It took a lot of hate, and while Fix is actually making a post to respond to his, I think he got started off to a bad start on the site. The first problem about this post was the fact that I published it. I didn’t think so many people would take it seriously (as it was somewhat of a parody on every GameRiot blog out there) but I can understand why people responded the way they did. I get that. We wont have any more posts like that on this site, I promise. I’ll let Fix say the rest about it in his post (look for that later this week sometime).

Its 4 a.m. on Sunday and I have class in the morning soooo that about does it for this post. Again, if you like what we’re doing, please let us know via comments. This site is made by the community, for the community, so any input you guys give we will listen to every time. Even if you tell us we suck — we can work on that! Now drop your chicken fingers and watch out for the Boss’s power slide! AHHHH!
