I’ll probably start up some sweet beats tomorrow morning though and as it comes closer to showtime I’ll start playing some sweeter beats (and by sweet I mean Japanese Synth Pop or something).

Tomorrow plan is to do a full-blown MLG Columbus preview. Breakdown each team, make some predictions, and of course talk about all the latest happenings in WoW. Everyone is dieing to know what bear form color Kynty is going to choose right?

If he isn’t around, as the Wing King Kintt said, “THE SHOW MUST GO ON,” channeling his inner Freddie. We’re going to be recording (yes, recording, again) this Saturday around 6 CST. We’re recording again because my laptop battery died and because Dell is such a piece of shit I can’t go buy a 130w battery here in town and have to order one… I digress. We’ll start doing live shows again whenever I get the battery (probably the next week).

So, Kintt, Igoaf, Serennia, and possibly some other WoW players (I might join in, we’ll see) on Arenacast this week. Expect show to be up around 7:30 p.m. CST or 8. Till then, have fun slaying dragons.

Don’t be alarmed, the podcast isn’t up yet (and won’t be up till about 10ish Wednesday night). I just wanted to inform everyone that usually listens to the show live that this week we’re going to try going back to recording the show, kicking it old school. This will allow for more edits, more segments (without downtime) and technical errors should be lowered a lot as well.

We’re going to try to improve the show a lot in the upcoming weeks so just be prepared for some cool, new segments, as well as some awful segments which we will never go back to ever again. I’m not going to spoil much for tomorrow’s episode however so you’ll just have to wait for it tomorrow night.

It appears a lot of things are far from complete, but if this is a sign of things to come arena may become even more skewed than before. What if Blizzard has decided to take a more intense approach to the damage in arena issue?

The above link shows that Blizzard may be toying around with the idea of reducing damage in arena through an aura effect instead of taking it to a class by class basis. This is pure speculation, but do you think this is a necessary step?

World of Warcraft began as a PvE game and will always keep it as a core element. Is it possible to balance this game with an avenue in e-sports in sight? Some sort of game changing rule set upon entering an arena may be the only way to truly balance it in the end, but it is up to Blizzard to make that decision and only time will tell which will always be captivated in the simple word of soon.

I’m having issues with my hunter being copied over, but I will post a few quick notes about the class before the show if able. Look for this week’s show to have plenty of talk about the new things to come in the wonderful World of Warcraft arena scene.

At first glance, everyone should notice NO 226 ITEMS IN SIGHT! No Betrayer, Sinister Revenge and Envoy should make physical damage come down a bit while every caster gets to do their own celebratory dance. Healers that have chosen to use Ice Living Crystals on live are sure to be unhappy as well. Trinkets have always had a huge impact in tournament play which goes back to warlocks and their Void Star Talismans so why should it be any different this time around?

Death Knights should be happy to see their ever loved Bandit’s Insignia is available. Darkmoon Cards, Grim Toll and Soul of the Dead are a few of the many good trinkets we’re sure to see in this year’s tournament. One other thing to remember when choosing trinkets is that humans will have the ability to use two trinkets while taking full advantage of their racial ability. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of human Death Knight’s wearing both a Bandit’s Insignia and a Darkmoon Card: Greatness as they continue their never ending quest for big numbers.

No engineering means goggles and rocket boots are no more which could have an impact on some players. The loss of other professions will have a very small impact on various character stats. The greatest loss of all is that there is no crab pet listed. Tournament action must of been too much for the poor bastards and they called it quits.

The most exciting part of the tournament realm for most is to see the game on an equal footing. No player will have access to additional gear outside of what Blizzard has made available. Class composition, skill and a splash of RNG, which we all know and love, will be the only deciding factors on the tournament realm. Are you prepared?

Luckily we picked it up rather quickly and the Ustream listeners didn’t have a clue. Lucky for you people who download the show you can hear absolute lunacy when shit goes awry.

I should really start doing proper podcasts but I usually try hard to rush after getting this stuff recorded live that I don’t like to write, and I end up rambling like I have for the past 150 words. One of the biggest issues with World of Warcraft when compared to other games in the e-sports scene is that there isn’t any form of demos available to the public outside of the occasional PvP video. When trying to remedy that very problem, I found myself faced with the big question: what would a WoW demo include?

On this first rough draft of Arenacast’s demo we take a look at a specific arena composition and just talk about talent choices, gear choices and general tactics. After banging my head against the wall trying to get the video to a point where I even felt comfortable uploading it, the guys here at Arenacast came up with a great idea. We have decided to release the video in its roughest stage to try to get your feedback and mold it into exactly what you guys want to see and hear using your suggestions.

First, let me warn you that this video is not fancy in any way. One of the first things we will be doing is getting a much better intro for the video, maybe even in the form of song and dance, so it looks much less like something my nine year old cousin could produce. Second, I know the quality (both audio and video) aren’t that great which is completely my fault and something easily fixed with a little more time.

Now here’s the part where I would like the Arenacast community to come in and help push this along to be a great addition to not only the website, but a great resource for anyone looking to find more information about arenas in general. The basic idea is to grab footage of top players running the most popular compositions out there and to discuss the comp over the footage. Would you like for us to get more in depth with the videos? Be more specific with comp vs comp strategies instead of a whole overview of the comp? For instance, we didn’t really talk about when you want to use your big cooldowns like wyvern, strangulate and HoP against certain teams.

Another idea was to do the general overview of the composition and afterwords do specific videos with footage versus some of the other tougher comps out there and go in depth with strategy and where to use cooldowns basically creating a tutorial over a short period of time.

The whole idea is for this project to be an enjoyable resource of information for all of you. So please, leave any feedback or suggestions in this article, and I hope to have a more polished, maybe even halfway good, version out soon.
