Posted by JP in Podcast Update

October 26th, 2009

The long lost Orangeinterview many thought never took place is finally here. Not much else to say other then I apologize for getting this out so late. There’s a bigger post with a streaming version of this on GotFrag.

Let us know if you like the show. We might do more of these in the future with different players, and hopefully get better as we go along. Now enjoy me saying “awkward” about 500 times. Thanks for listening!

Does feel a bit awkward, especially at the beginning, but it’s a good and interesting interview.

Personally I liked it, and it sounds great that you’re considering more interview of this kind :)

And the awkwardness will disappear with other players that are from US or EU :)

Thanks a lot for posting this! The only times it’s awkward is when you keep saying “this is awkward”, and you laugh at points where he may not understand why you are laughing. :)

The only thing awkward about it was Igoaf in my opinion. He’s constantly sitting there doing nothing and just laughing when he feels its awkward or commentating on how “awkward” it was. It’s like he wasn’t even being tolerant of the language barrier and just thought the whole thing was stupid and pointless.

Personally, I felt it was fine and I think you did a wonderful job handling the language issue and clarifying for Orange, JP.

If I ever laughed it was because of something JP AIM’d me so blame him

Honestly like, it’s a really good thing and interview and you did great. But I think it’s odd that Azael and pooks behaved so much better in a respectful way than you guys did, myself, I don’t have english as my native language, and I’d get so nervous if I didn’t understood what you said and you guys started laughing.

Well, keep it up anyways, it was a good interview, just got a little upset about what I wrote above.

The real problem wasn’t Orange’s english, it was everyone else not being able to communicate well. I guess you guys just don’t have any experience speaking other languages, but a major issue is avoiding idiomatic expressions. You can’t say “RMP mirrors”, for example. He probably knows what a mirror is but not in that context. You need to keep things simple and rephrase when necessary.

Djwheat does this kind of interview very well. It may help improving how you interview foreign players.

Wow that was disrespectful. Need to work on your patience and stop trying to play the cool card by laughing and saying how awkward it is, no shit it’s gonna be awkward. Orange must of felt like shit when he’s trying to answer your questions and you guys just laugh. Pooks took the time to rephrase questions and help him understand and talk to him like he was equal instead of writing him off by saying oh you won’t understand this.
with that said, I enjoyed it. Bring pooks and isaac back more.

Good interview but you guys need to stop trying to be so damned funny. Orange did a brave thing going into this interview with 4 US players and for you guys to make it even harder for him laughing becuase he cant understand a language not common to him is just down right disrespectful. Give the guy a chance.

Good on you orange mate, you did well.
